Designer, strategist, and studio founder with over a decade at the intersection of brand, product, and digital experience. Co-founder of Oak Theory. Fluent in both the language of luxury and the logic of systems.
I've spent over a decade learning how brand, product, and technology actually talk to each other, and building at that intersection on purpose.
That's meant creative direction for Estée Lauder, Sephora, Disney, and Salesforce. It's meant co-founding Oak Theory, a BIPOC women-owned studio, in 2020 — and growing it into a practice that spans identity, UX, web, and digital strategy for brands that take the work seriously.
Right now, the most interesting territory is AI — not as a tool to speed things up, but as a new design material entirely. I build with Lovable, Cursor, Claude, and GPT-4o the way I once built with code and intuition: deliberately, and with something to say.
I'm a Black woman who has always designed from the outside in, which means I see things others miss. That perspective is not incidental to the work. It is the work.

Occasionally. When a project is the right fit, in scope, ambition, and timing, yes. The best way in is a direct email: vershelton@gmail.com.
Strategic and hands-on, depending on what the project needs. I can concept and direct, or I can design and ship. Sometimes both. I don't hand things off and disappear.
Both. Figma for design. React, Next.js, Tailwind, WordPress, and Elementor for development. I also build with Lovable and Cursor, which means faster delivery without cutting corners on craft.
Work that requires real thinking. Brand systems that need to scale. Digital experiences with something at stake. AI-integrated builds that haven't been done the obvious way.
Yes. BIPOC women-owned, founded in 2020. That's not a footnote — it shapes how we approach every engagement.
